Christianity is the Enemy. Here's Why:

You know, that title might be just a bit misleading. What I really mean is this; mainstream christianity is the enemy. Still not with me? Let's break it down.

The early Church was heavily persecuted (and still is around the world) and I promise you that it wasn't for their youth outreach paintball matches, passion play productions or vacation Bible schools. The Church, and particularly the Church in America, is lacking in the persecution department for a simple and salient reason. No standard is being held up.

The most comfortable medical treatment facility in the world isn't of much use if your injury or illness isn't addressed. Sure, you'll be nice and comfy. And you'll also go untreated and probably die. So, there's that...

I view the Church in a similar light. There's a fixation on comfort to the extent that the aforementioned standard is left to the side. And not only that, they find themselves opposing those who would hold that standard up. I've heard "We couldn't possibly teach that. People would leave!". You'll notice that something is missing from that sentence; any mention of the truth. We want our lukewarm bath. Not too cold, not too hot. Ahhh, just right.

We have beautiful buildings, comfortable pews, services that last an hour, and watered down "sermons" all in the name of comfort. In our quest to bring people in and keep them in, we've left their fatal "illness" unaddressed. In providing a false sense of security, we damn them to certain death.

If I saw a house on fire and had the opportunity to alert those inside to the danger, I would likely not spend very much time worrying about startling them. Their lives are in danger. How much more so those in this world?

Living outside of God's will is destructive, and creating an atmosphere that lacks a standard (ie; alerting people that staying inside the burning house will mean their death) is even worse. And that is exactly what what "mainstream" Christianity and it's leaders have done. They've created a perfectly acceptable and comfortable place. The only problem is that God wasn't invited.

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth." - Revelation 3:15-16
